I thought to post some tutorials about customization of blogger template.Newbie blogger are in trouble to edit their blog template and modify blog performances.So i am presenting you some posts about customizing blogger template.Today I am going to explain you how to edit your blog's container width easily.

There are major two types of a blogger theme/template as its width.They are Fixed and Fluid.Fixed blog templates are fixed to screen and Fluid blog templates doesn't fix to screen.You can see two image examples in below.

There are advantages and disadvantages using these each blogger templates.I'm not going to explain them now. For Now you will learn how to increase or decrease your blogger blog's content width.

How to Change your blog's content width

1.Sign in to your blogger account and go to your blogger dashboard.
2.Now go to Template.
3.Now find #container code,using inbuilt searching tool of your New blogger template editor.
4.After find this code on your blogger template.it will be slightly similar to below one.

/*-----------Container - Style---------------*/
#container {
float: left;
margin: 0;
overflow: hidden;
padding: 15px 20px 15px 25px;
width: 640px;
word-wrap: break-word;
}

You can see that there is the width property on this CSS code.It is whole width of your blog content width(Blog post layout width).Now you can change width of your blog container.As in above code,you can see that width of that blog's container is 640px.

If you can't find that code on your blogger template.It looks like your blog template has Variable definitions.To edit your blog's content width,find this code content.width .In many blogger templates this code is just below <b:template-skin> code of blogger templates. Mostly this method is used on default blogger templates.You can find this code scrolling down your template HTML editor. Find similar code like "content.width".After you found that code,It will look like this.

<b:template-skin>
<b:variable default='960px' name='content.width' type='length' value='960px'/>

You will find similar code like this.Now you can increase or decrease your blogger blog content width by adding the length to both default and value.I suggest you to don't save your blogger template before your blog has eligible width.You can get a preview of your blog easily to realize your blog's quality after you can save it.

Also you can adjust your blog's width easily from "Template customization" section.But it does not support for most of custom blogger templates.If you use default blogger template,you can use this method to increase or decrease your blog's content width simply with live preview.
